The Muncie Pottery company based in Muncie, IN manufactured art pottery from 1919 through 1939. Muncie pottery is a heavy clay pottery with fairly thick walls. It typically has a matt finish and is marked on the bottom. The markings are typically in the form of a number followed by a letter "2a 4a 3b" or something similar. In addition to the hand scribed markings on Muncie pottery there can also be stamped Muncie pottery. There have been several pieces of unmarked Muncie pottery discovered making identification a bit tougher.
